Parts of the menu
I did not take a picture of the main course because I thought its to dark for pictured but now I see the pictures are ok. Not brilliant though.
Anyway the food was outstanding again. Nice to have such a place in the neighborhood.
The pianist
We got to sit in the entrance area because something went wrong with the reservation. But we liked it a lot, the man at the next table was the pianist who played from time to time on the piano and we could even see into the kitchen.
They felt so emmbarassed to place us there that we did not have to pay for the wine we had (we had a whole bottle!) Mad no?
Desserts
I got a very nice cheese plate with an assortment of beautiful french and italian cheese, just the way I love it.
In the middle a dried fig and a walnut.
Kevin got chocolate mousse, chocolate cake and cinnamon ice cream. He wouldn't not let me taste, so I guess it must have been nice.
On top was sort of a caramelized orange which he left over. I ate it, it was delicious.
Main course
Crepes filled with mushrooms and coated with breadcrumbs. With this came an assortment of winter vegetables such as
potatoes, sunchoke, chestnut, mountain cranberry and truffle slices. As a side dish we got lemon spätzli.
A plate full of different flavours, lovely.
Starters
Kevin had Halibut on black salsifies with lobster sauce.
The lobster sauce with the salsifies was just delicious the Halibut was maybe a bit boring.
But over all a lovley starter
I had chèvre pastry on lentil salad with the most fantastic pickled pear and nuts.
I know the picture is not the best but the food was absolutely delicious!
Yesterday at the "Blauer Engel"
Yesterday we went to the Blauer Engel again. I keep forgetting what a lovely restaurant this is.
It's a very cosy and relaxed place and the food is really outstanding.
It's certainly not a cheap place, the menu costs around 70 chf for 3 courses, but it's worth every penny.
Let me take you through the menu.
