Sirenenalarm in Bern
Went to bed early but got woken up by alarm sirens going off in the city. After finding a radio (don't have one - but my mobile phone does ;) - I now know it was because of Hochwasser (flooding) of the river Aare. There has been SOO much rain! And it's still raining. The Internet isn't much help for instant news like this I had to find out - sirens go off in the night, and the bern.ch website is unavailable (too many requests?)... google doesn't help and teletext.ch has only little info, police.be.ch has a semi-relevant statement from this afternoon and feuerwehr.ch is totally useless, espace.ch has nothing... luckily the full hour (23:00) came up and the news came on (most info available on national radio DRS 1)... I did guess the sirens were because of flooding but its still kinda scary when you're not sure because the next nuclear power station is VERY near by...
Since we don't live close to the river though, I'm going back to bed now.
